I know you can wear brown khakis with a navy blue jacket. But what color jacket goes with black pants (besides black)?
What if I find a great brown or grey jacket but no matching pants? What color pants can I get to go with it?

brighter colours will go better with black trousers.

Black pants and a beige jacket would look dashing!
And if you found a brown or grey jacket and the pants didn’t match, brown goes with beige, white, black, a deeper (or lighter) green, yellow, red and possibly purple.
Grey matches with black, white, orange, yellow, brown, dark green, light and dark blue, red and a silver I suppose. (:
